This guide will take you through the steps required to replace the fuel injector on a McLaren F1.
Tools and Materials Needed

- Fuel Line Disconnect Tool
- Safety Gloves
- Safety Glasses
- Screwdriver Set
Procedure
- Put on your safety glasses and gloves to protect yourself from fuel spills.
- Locate the fuel injector. It's typically inside the engine compartment.
- Disconnect the battery and then remove the fuel cap to release any pressure in the vehicle’s fuel system.
- Remove the fuel rails by unscrewing the bolts holding the rails in place using your screwdriver set.
- Once the fuel rails are out of the way, use the fuel line disconnect tool to detach the fuel lines from the injectors.
- Now carefully remove the faulty fuel injector. Remember how it is positioned for the installation of the new one.
- Prepare your new fuel injector for installation. Make sure that the o-rings or seals that came with your replacement kit are properly lubricated.
- Install the new fuel injector making sure it is situated in the same position as the old one.
- Reconnect the fuel lines to the new injector and reinstall the fuel rails with the bolts you previously removed.
- Reconnect the battery and replace the fuel cap.
- Start the vehicle to verify that the fuel injector is working properly. Monitor for any leaks from the connection points.
- If the car runs smoothly and there are no leaks, your fuel injector replacement was successful!
